Diagnosis is possibly one of the most important prospects when it comes to infertility in men.
A new study (R) conducted by the researchers from the Washington State University has found new and improved ways to diagnose infertility in men to further find better alternatives in terms of treatment. The study has found that men who are infertile have identifiable traits of epigenetic molecules or biomarkers that are present in their sperm DNA.
These biomarkers are not all the same present in the fertile male, thus making it easier to compare and find better differences around with the both. They also assessed the impacts of the hormone therapy to better find treatment options for the condition as well.
While it could often end up taking years and more to identify the signs of infertility in men, the same has finally changed with this new research led by Michael Skinner, the same can be identified in a record time.
This research is believed to provide the doctors with a better basis of understanding and a better screening for the condition of infertility in men to further figure out better options for the treatment. Knowing this and having an informed idea can further cut down on the kind of headaches the couples go through. This could also further help the doctors suggest better treatment options that they later scrounge through.
As per the current medical diagnosis, the only form of diagnosis for the infertility in men is done via assessing the sperm motility and the sperm quantity around. This, as effective as it might sound, is not the best form of diagnosis to separate the infertile men from the fertile ones.
Addressing the progress of the study, Skinner said that the condition of male infertility is increasing every single day. It is also standing out as a key factor when it comes to the reproductive health and disease of the individuals around. Having a doctor who is able to directly point out and tell that this is the problem that they are facing along with a set standard of treatment options can actually prove beneficial for the individuals involved.
20% of the cases around the world in terms of infertility are not even known and have been taken for some other miscelleneous issue. These men are often suggested to opt for the other treatment options like IVF to successfully conceive a child with their partner.
Skinner and his colleagues wanted to find alternative ways that would help cut down the unnecessary waiting time around with this. From the prior studies, the researchers were assured of the fact that there is some or the other form of connection when it comes round to the infertility with the alterations in the methyl molecules stuck to the sperm DNA.
The researchers then went on to work on molecular techniques to see if they could identify the shortcomings and the biomarkers to further help in coming up with better treatment options for the men involved. Apart from the basic biomarker, the researchers also traced the presence of another biomarker which could further help with the hormone therapy treatment to further pose better cure for the condition.
Given that everything is based around on the initial findings and data, the researchers are working to set up an even better clinical trial to further solidify their findings and implement better treatment approach to ensure maximum cure in no time.
In the long end, the findings from this study can further pave way for the overall treatment of the other accessory medical conditions as well which no one is still assured of. For it to successfully implement, it is important to find better and large scale alternatives for the condition.
Skinner also told that they are working to find similar kind of diagnositic approaches for the patients suffering from conditions like arthritis and other neuro-degenerative conditions like autism. Nothing is set in stone yet. More and more researches are being conducted to better find options for treatment for better recovery through the process.
